What the Watt?

J.J. Watt signed with a new team this week. No not that team. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals. It was a surprise signing because many people thought he would sign with the Packers or Steelers. His signing does actually cause a stir among fantasy teams. A defensive tackle does not usually warrant a large flux in fantasy football, but he does.

This is a two-fold benefit to the team. He joins Chandler Jones to make one of the best front lines. It raises the DEF rankings of the Cardinals because it takes the pressure off of the back seven. It raises the offensive rankings because the defense will take the pressure off of the offensive to have to score. It allows the “potential” MVP candidate of Kyler Murray to not be able to play from behind. The former WR Deandre Hopkins can now slice apart defenders and add to his 1,000+ yard season from last year. Chase Edmunds, who should be on everyone’s radar with Kendall Drake as a free agent, finally has the opportunity to be the lead back.
