Start/ Sit Week 1

Start of the Week

Chris Olave, WR New Orleans Saints- Olave has the talent and ability to have a breakout season this year. Derek Carr is an upgrade over previous quarterbacks that Olave has played with. Carr can throw a nice deep ball which will benefit Olave in yards per catch. The running back room is depleted, and the Saints have some good receivers that will take the double team off Olave. Last season the Titans allowed the most yards on deep passes. Look for the breakout season to begin in week 1.

Start

Luke Musgrave, TE Green Bay Packers- Rookie tight ends generally do not make an impact in their first year. However, with injuries to Christian Watson, who is ruled out, and Romeo Doubs being banged up, Musgrave looks to be the primary benefactor. The jury is out on how well Jordan Love will perform at the NFL level, but Musgrave should get plenty of opportunities.

Raheem Mostert, RB Miami Dolphins- Mostert will get the start with fellow running back Jeff Wilson Jr. starting the season injured. Rookie running back Devon Achane is dealing with preseason injuries as well. This should allow Mostert to get the majority of carries in a probable high-powered offense.

Washington Redskins, DEF- The odds are that the Arizona Cardinals will be the worst team in the league this year. A weekly streaming play for defense the entire year will be any defense playing the Cardinals. The Redskins have an above-average defense and should feast on whoever the quarterback for the Cardinals will be this week.

Sit

Najee Harris, RB Pittsburgh Steelers- The 49ers have one of the best defenses in the league. Last year they allowed the lowest rushing yards and touchdowns to running backs, with Nick Bosa signing a new contract he will be guaranteed to be on the field. Harris was not impressive in his first years in the league with a below-average yard per carry. Jaylen Warren is also expected to take carries away from Harris.

Gabe Davis, WR Buffalo Bills- The Jets have a top-ten secondary, especially with defensive rookie of the year Sauce Gardner in coverage. Both Bills receivers, including Stefon Diggs, should be moved down the list of wide receiver rankings. Last season Gardner was covering Davis more than he was covering Diggs. The Jets also allowed the least amount of yards to wide receivers lined up on the outside.

Matthew Stafford, QB Los Angeles Rams- Cooper Kupp is now on the IR list and will miss the first four weeks. Outside of Kupp there are very few weapons that are going to scare the defenses. The Seahawks have a lot of offensive weapons and should move the ball on a weak Rams defense. Stafford is going to be forced to throw the ball to keep up with the Seahawks. With unproven weapons, a poor offensive line, and questionable running backs, expect Stafford to force throws and turnovers.

Philadelphia Running Backs- The running backs situation in Philly will be confusing and almost impossible to figure out which one to start. Rashaad Penny and D’Andre Swift will get the first-team reps, but it is a question of who will be the better pick. Kenneth Gainwell will be in the mix as well, and Boston Scott and Jalen Hurts will be in the mix for goal-line carries. Unless someone stands out in the first couple of games, all these running backs are a weekly sit.
