Week 4 Start’em/ Sit’em

Sit

Start of the Week

Justin Herber, QB, Los Angeles Rams- Herbert is coming off a record-setting personal performance. He may have Austin Ekler back, and he will have the rookie first-round receiver Quentin Johnston and a very capable fill-in receiver in Joshua Palmer filling in the void of Mike Williams, but do not let that distract you. Herbert is an elite quarterback playing against a struggling Las Vegas team at home. Expect his confidence to be high and the receivers to have good games, especially if Ekler is back in the game.

Start

Justin Fields, QB, Chicago Bears- To be clear, I do not expect Fields to be a reliable quarterback for the rest of the season. This is the get-right game for Fields. If he does not produce against a Broncos Defense that was thrashed by Miami for one of the most points scored in NFL history. It might be safer for fantasy managers to sit Fields, but this is his last good chance of being a reasonable quarterback in the league. If you have him, this is the last good game opportunity that he has.

Raheem Mostert, RB, Miami Dolphins – Mostert was overlooked by his rookie running back last week. He still scored 4 touchdowns and was impossible to stop. He is the starting running back and has been the best player outside of Tyreek Hill for the Dolphins. Expect him to have another great game against a strong defense.

Sam LaPorta, TE, Detroit Lions – Rookie tight ends rarely make an impact their first year in the league. LaPorta has become an integral part of the Lions offense, he has become a receiving threat opposite of Amon Ra St. Brown. He is averaging 8 targets a game and just scored his first touchdown on a 40+ yard catch. LaPorta will be one of the top TEs by the end of the year.

Anthony Richardson, QB, Indianapolis Colts – Richardson has been an otherworldly talent since he started his quarterback career. The issue is that he has not been able to stay healthy in his first two starts. This is incredibly concerning because of his style of play. It is also an incredibly rewarding experience if he can remain healthy for the full game. His accuracy is better than many thought it would be, and he is a threat to run. If he plays the full game, he will be a top-5 quarterback.

D’Andre Swift, RB, Philadelphia Eagles – Swift was always a talented running back and had plenty of upside with the Detroit Lions. However, injuries and a lack of confidence in the coaching staff derailed his career with the Lions. He appears rejuvenated with the Eagles and appears to have taken over the lead role. Injuries are still a concern, and Jalen Hurts will take away from touchdowns, but his yardage makes him a starter.

Tank Dell, WR, Houston Texans – The offensive line has been atrocious through three games this year, which has caused their running backs to have no room to operate. However, C.J. Stroud has been great as a rookie quarterback. He has kept both his top receivers Dell and Nico Collins have top fantasy options. His former teammate Dell has taken over the lead receiver role on a team that is moving the ball efficiently. Both still should be started, but Dell has taken over the number one role.

Sit

De’Von Achane, RB, Miami Dolphins- This is an insane take on a player who probably set the single-game record for this season. He will be the biggest waiver wire pickup this week and many owners will start him expecting good results. The Buffalo defense is much better than Denver’s, and Mostert is the number one running back on a team that can also throw the ball well. It is a trap game for owners to start Achane. He will be a lower-level RB2 or a flex player at best. He should not necessarily be sat, but do not expect an RB1 performance.

Breece Hall/ Dalvin Cook, RB, New York Jets – The Jet’s offensive is a total mess at this point in the year. Until Zack Wilson is no longer the starting quarterback, and they get a player that can move the ball, the defensives will stack the box to stop the run. Outside of the first week, Hall and Cook have been stopped from making any gains on the ground. This will continue until the Jets can threaten in the air.

Garrett Wilson, WR, New York Jets – This is a “look above” kind of rating. Wilson is uber-talented but does not have a quarterback that can get him the ball. He got lucky on a crossover route in week 2, but he has done nothing to make Wilson anything more than a WR2 at most, and perhaps a sit this week.

Rachaad White, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – White came into the season with poor rushing YPC, but good at getting receptions out of the backfield. However, despite Baker Mayfield having a better-than-expected quarterback ranking, White has done little to impress. There are calls for the backup Sean Tucker, and perhaps making a trade for a new running back. White is lucky to get a touchdown, and that is the only way he is of any value at this point.

A.J. Dillon/ Aaron Jones, RB, Green Bay Packers – Dillon has been less than impressive in place of Jones, who looks to regain his starting role this week against Detroit. Detroit is a top-ten run defense and has stopped some elite running backs in the first three games. The Lions play at Lambeau this week, but the defense should stop the rushing attack of the Packers. Jones is preferable but expects this to be a low-scoring game with an expected total is 47 points.
