There are several tiers of wide receivers throughout fantasy football. The top tier is of course your stud players, who you always start. The next are receivers that are not TD dependant, and then there are those that are. In PPR you want to have a receiver that may not get the TD’s but gets a ton of targets. Hunter Renfrow is a receiver that is not getting nearly enough attention. He is still available in over 50% of leagues; which is terrible. He is currently tied for 21st in receptions with 22 through week 5.
However, throw stats aside for a minute. If you do the “eye test”, he is one tough SOB. He reminds me of watching Julian Edelman play with New England. He is not afraid to get hit, or dish out hits if you watched the game vs LA when he laid out a receiver on a punt fake. He has great hands and catches almost everything thrown at him. While he finished in the mid-’40s for receptions the last two years, this year is different. The focus is on Darren Waller and Henry Ruggs as a deep threat option. If you are in PPR, which you should be, pick him up if you have the option. He will be a steady third receiver, who gets occasional TD’s.
