These are the quarterback rankings for the 2023 NFL that are based on PPR scoring.
- Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs
- Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles= Hurts is ranked above Josh Allen because he has a more complete offense with the Eagles. He also has the rushing edge. He will rush for more yards and touchdowns while having similar passing stats.
- Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills
- Joe Burrow – Cincinnati Bengals
- Justin Herbert – Las Angeles Chargers
- Deshaun Watson – Cleveland Browns= Watson is ranked higher than many consensus rankings. Regardless of the opinion of the individual, he is a highly talented quarterback. He had some rust when he came back from suspension last year. The Brown’s offense is underrated, and he has a very high ceiling with a full year under his belt. He is ranked 6th but he will fall to later rounds than the top ten quarterbacks. He should be a steal if he returns to form.
- Lamar Jackson – Baltimore Ravens
- Trevor Lawrence – Jacksonville Jaguars
- Dak Prescott – Dallas Cowboys
- Tua Tagovailoa – Miami Dolphins= Uber talented, but injury concerns can cause him to fall.
- Justin Fields – Chicago Bears= This may be too high of a rank when the season ends. Fields is an incredible rushing quarterback that put up over 1,000 yards last year on the ground. However, his arm is the question mark, as well as his receivers. If he puts up comparable rushing yards, he will need to almost triple his pass attempts to be an elite quarterback.
- Geno Smith – Seattle Seahawks= This may actually be too low when the season ends. Geno is not a sexy pic, but his offense just got better, and he was pretty good last year. He has perhaps the best set of receivers in the league, and they drafted a rookie running back to share carries in the backfield. The offense is going to move behind Geno’s arms and legs.
- Daniel Jones – New York Giants
- Kirk Cousins – Minnesota Vikings
- Anthony Richardson – Indianapolis Colts= Richardson, much like Fields, has the ability to repeat Fields’ 1,000 rushing yard season. There are questions about his ability to move the ball through the air. There is also the question of when he will start, whether it is day one or week five.
- Matthew Stafford – Los Angeles Rams
- Mac Jones – New England Patriots= After an impressive rookie campaign, where he was in the running for Offensive Rookie of the Year, he had a setback after poor offensive coaching last year. With Bill O’Brian as the new offensive coordinator, Mac should have a bounce-back year.
- Jared Goff – Detroit Lions
- Aaron Rodgers – New York Jets= There is only one Tom Brady that can play past 40 at a high level. Rodgers showed decline last year and there is not a lot of reason to believe the future Hall of Famer has a sudden youth movement and returns to MVP form.
- Russell Wilson – Denver Broncos= Can Sean Payton fix Wilson and return him to top form?
- Jordan Love – Green Bay Packers= Do the Packers have their third Hall of Fame quarterback in a row? Odds are…. No. But they could very well have a top-12 quarterback on the field. He has been in the league for four years behind Aaron Rodgers. He is worth a flier this late in the draft.
- Derek Carr – New Orleans Saints
- Kyler Murray – Arizona Cardinals= There are huge question marks regarding Murray’s availability. It looks like he will be able to return at the midpoint of the season. Then there is reason to believe that the Cardinals are going to be a bad team. If the team has a significant losing record it is very possible that he does not suit up at all this year.
- Bryce Young – Carolina Panthers
- Jimmy Garoppolo – Las Vegas Raiders
- Kenny Pickett – Pittsburgh Steelers= The Steelers could make a leap in offensive this year, they have a solid receiving core and a top running back. The problem is that Pickett is not that great of a quarterback. He is more of a game manager, probably unlikely to have big weeks, possibly to have bad weeks.
