Sam Darnold

Ok. Do not lock in your first QB like Sam Darnold. What I am saying is that in a 10-12 man league he will probably go undrafted. All I am saying is that Darnold will go far above his ADP. He is a solid backup on the border of a starting fantasy QB. I understand the thoughts you probably have about picking a QB in any round of the draft that has had a “rocky” first three years filled with injuries and inconsistency, in fact, he is ranked at the bottom of fantasy/ football rankings in those three years. Plus he was a Jet. (This may be biased).

Here is my reasoning. He was on the highly dysfunctional Jets for the past three years with a highly unqualified coach in Adam Gase. He had an under .500 career with the Dolphins and then only won 28% of the time with the Jets. Darnold had very few offensive weapons to work with within his time there. He didn’t have a real number one receiver, never a good back to take off the pressure, and always an average defense. He is now in Carolina where there are a solid coaching staff and a plethora of offensive weapons. He has Christian McCaffery who will take all of the pressure off of him and numerous receivers that have proven themselves. He is only 23, with a large skillset, and now on a winning team. I wouldn’t take him as a number one, but I sure will as a number two with a high ceiling.
